Since the 1970s, Hawaii has had significant incentives to encourage and support the development and adoption of renewable energies to reduce our reliance on and vulnerability to the long and expensive supply lines of GHG-producing fossil fuels (principally petroleum) coming into the state. To what end now 50+ years later? How far have we come? What challenges and obstacles continue to plague us?
